WAKE SCHOOL

This school was located off Highway 68 , west of Dickerson Cemetery and near Barnett Springs. The date the school was established is not know, but it is thought that it was named fro Russell Wake, a successful lawyer.
Some of the teachers at Wake School were: Lucille DeGraffenreid Wilson, Jewell Ramey Ray Doles, Pauline Nickell, Marie Calhoun Duncan, Jettie Wilcox Smith, and Freida Hayden Cothran.
